So today we saw a great variety of items come through the door, including a metal detector, toy spider, fans, and bubble machine along with the more regular bikes, mixers and laptops.
We had the Lord Mayor pop in between mayoral engagements and managed to help him fix his broken Kindle.
In total we saw 51 items and managed to fix 33 of them, including a couple of much needed fans on another hot weekend.
As well as fixing items, we always enjoy some lovely chats with visitors over cups of tea and cake, and were pleased that we managed to help one visitor with a frustratingly broken shredder. After a bit of effort to get it open, and the help of some #sugru, she left happy saying:
Everyone is very friendly, and there is a lovely atmosphere. The fixers (3!) did a great job repairing the pesky shredder – thank you!
Our fixers love a challenge and often call on each other for a second opinion or extra pair of hands to help with a fiddly job. And we’re always looking for additional volunteers to join the team, so do get in touch if you’re interested.
We’ll be shut for August, but will re-open the doors on Saturday 15th September, 10.30am – 1pm, so we hope to see you there. And do post your fixes in the meantime, and tag us #PompeyFix
