Last month, we took part in Big Fix 2020, along with another 65 Repair Cafes across the country, and thankfully Storm Dennis didn’t stop people from getting out and getting fixing!
The numbers are now in and there were an amazing…..drum roll, please….
- 2981 items brought in
- 75.5% repair rate
- 918 volunteers involved
- and 1974 people attended events.
This avoided over £100,000 of consumer spending and saved approximately 55 tonnes of carbon! (That’s the eqiuvalent of manufacturing about 9 cars!)
In Portsmouth, we saw 60 items and fixed 40 of them. And it was a great month for the diversity of items brought in…a sewing machine, kettle, bags, leggings, a Wii, necklaces, speakers, glasses, a toast rack, chair, laptop, coat, toy crane and much more.
We couldn’t do it without our amazing volunteers and you, the visitors, being willing to give up time to come and learn how to repair your broken things. So thanks to everyone and keep spreading the word.
