It was brilliant to be back fixing this month, and although we had to trial quite a few changes to keep everyone safe, it still held much of the community repair joy that we know and love.
We helped with 22 different items including a drill, strimmers, sewing machines, bracelet, jacket, watering can and victorian thermometer.
And the great news is that 13 of those items were fixed and 6 are on their way to being fixed, which means 34kg of waste and the equivalent of 96kg of CO2 emissions prevented (that’s the same amount of CO2 that it takes to manufacture a sofa!).
We learnt some valuable lessons from our new booking system, and will be making some tweaks ahead of July’s event, but do keep an eye on our Facebook page or on this website when July bookings go live next week.
As always, we are so grateful to the amazing team of volunteers that make this all possible, from baking and providing refreshments, through to repairing, welcoming and the new essential role of cleaning!
We’re looking forward to welcoming more of you in the coming months, as well as helping other groups set up across the region (if you’re interesting in getting one going near where you live, do get in touch).
And don’t forget that if you need bike repair help, the Community Cycle Centre is open each Saturday 10am – 2pm in Wallsall Road.
